Pasting LaTeX Formulas into MS Word

Background

The XML-based markup language MathML can be used to represent mathematical formulas and can be directly pasted into MS Word. Therefore, you can first convert LaTeX formulas to MathML and then paste them into Word.

Steps

  1. Use Temml. This website is easy to use and provides real-time preview. MathJax and KaTeX should also work. Enter the formula and you can preview it on the right. Once the preview is complete, select XML, copy.

  1. Open Word and paste. (Remove formatting by selecting “Keep Text Only” if necessary).
